A Big Sausage a Big Knife

and a Small Finger

The inspiration comes from my left hand's index finger, more specifically, from the scar that is living on it.. permanently.. without paying any rent.

The scar is connected to my childhood, which made me wonder about the silly disconnection and contrast between the meat I was cutting and my own flesh. The small cut in my finger caused so much chaos and tears. Who cried for the pig that was under my knife?

My project examines the naive, 'soft 'representation of farm animals found in children's books and toys and juxtapositions it against the harsh reality whilst simultaneously sharing my personal experience from both my and my mother's perspective.
